Something I really enjoy doing is taking something meant for the dumpster or thrift store and recycling it into a thing of beauty and function. People have coined this Upcycling. I refer to it as upcylcing, but I also like to use the words reclaimed and vintage whenever it applies. One thing I love to upcycle is vintage pillow cases. I think the pillow case dress is an adorable look, it can be worn alone as a dress and as a shirt along with some leggings, jeans or shorts. I've also turned vintage pillow cases into skirts for grown ups as well. Every once in a while I am inspired to create pillow case dress out of scrap fabric, but find it great fun to take an old pillow case and turn it into something retro, cute and fun. Here are a few of the dresses I have in my
etsy shop right now. I have a huge stack in craft closet (1/3 of our walk in closet) for future dresses, skirts and maybe even some sling bags. If your interested in making one for your self out of your favorite pillow case let me know and I will post a how to blog for you sewing enthusiast!
